Nothing says Picture Day like a 40 degree day in July...Leah & Ian and Fam!

I met up with Leah and Ian and their two adorable little girls on the HOTTEST day of the summer...I'm serious, it was literally the hottest day of the summer...I think it was close to 40 degrees. We all hummed and hawed a little over whether to go ahead in the heat, or reschedule....I'm telling you....the weather has been bossy with my sessions this summer.

But, we decided to go ahead and despite the miserable heat, it is hard to ignore just how cute these two little dolls are! We met at Leah's parents' GORGEOUS home for the session...I thought I had walked into a magazine layout! LOVED it!

I did photos of Ian and Leah and the girls as wells as some with Leah's parents...what a beautiful family and a beautiful spot! Despite the heat, the girls did well and we had a lot of fun!!

Check out some of my favs!

Tackle Boxes, Trains and Tornadoes...Courtney & Trevor {Engaged!}

I have to first say this...I LOVE a bride-to-be that puts in so much thought and effort into selecting the photo locations and style of photos for the engagement session! It's so much fun to be taking pictures of a couple in spots that are significant to the two of them!

That being said, I had a blast with Courtney and Trevor on their session. As with some of my other recent sessions, weather was the hot topic of the day! Actually, we had to reschedule the session from the weekend before because of bad weather! So on attempt #2...apparently we weren't real worried about the imminent bad weather...severe thunder storms and tornadoes...all in the name of great photos right?

To be fair, the hourly forecast said we had until 8 pm before the bad weather hit, and for once it was pretty much right on! I pulled into my driveway as the black clouds rolled in, the wind picked up and the rain came down! Whew!! P.S. An hour later, I was sitting on my sketchy basement floor...you know, just in case!

Anyways, I met up with Courtney and Trevor at Trevor's parents' place. We started the session there at the barn and from there toured around the yard before heading to the Scout Camp nearby and eventually some nearby train tracks. These two brought it for the camera and I loved the personal touches they added to the photos...fishing gear, guitars, different outfits. They climbed on barn beams even with the chance of a raccoon jumping out to attack, waded into the creek, stood on live train tracks...and again...all under the threat of thunder, lightning and tornadoes! These two are troopers!

After such a fun e-session, I am really looking forward to their upcoming winter wedding!!

Enjoy your sneak peek guys!

The One Tree Orchard Wedding...Amanda & Drew {Married!}

So on top of all of the other weddings I shot this summer, there was one that was a little closer to home than the rest...ok A LOT closer to home...it was AT my home! My baby sister Amanda and her now-husband (and my new brother-in-law!), Drew tied the knot in the orchard (yes it DOES have one apple tree!) behind my house.

Despite running a little behind (really...it wouldn't be a McCallum event (or a Kyle event for that matter) if it was on time!), the day ran without a glitch and it was an awesome day! The day was a blast and the party went way into the wee hours of the morning!

We started the day off with the guys at their hotel. You'll notice that there is one less groomsman than there are bridesmaids...while some people opt for "uneven sides", the reason for the lobsided teams in this case was the simple fact that one of the groomsmen lives in KOREA! So yeah...he couldn't make the trek for the big day, but he was still a part of the day and we were lucky enough to be there while Drew skyped with his friend for some last words of wisdom before he tied the knot. After finishing up with the guys, we headed back to my house to meet up with the ladies...details get fuzzy from here on as things picked up to warp speed! I sort of feel like it was my wedding day again in the sense that I know it happened and it was awesome, but don't ask me for details because it just went so fast!!!

It was a lot of work and made life a little more hectic leading up to the big day, but it was all worth it!! The weather was perfect (thank you Mother Nature!), the bride was gorgeous, the groom handsome and the day beautiful! And I was beyond honoured to be asked to capture the day for them!

Congratulations you two and welcome to the fam Drew...just in case you wanted to change your mind...it's too late now buddy!! xo

 Dude, I don't know what you said, but apparently it was FUNNY! Love it!
